Syria reaffirmed its stand by the Palestinian people and its support for Jordan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
“Syria reaffirms its support for the Palestinian people to obtain all their rights, including the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital”, Foreign Ministry said Wednesday in a tweet, affirming its support for the sovereignty of the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its territorial integrity.
“Syria is not surprised by the repeated racist statements of officials of the Israeli occupation entity, as they are a clear expression of the reality of this entity, the extent of its aggressiveness and expansionist ambitions in the countries of the region, and the extent of its disregard for the most basic rules of international law and relevant UN resolutions.” the Ministry added.
The minister in the Israeli occupation government, Bezalel Smotrich, denied in statements last Sunday the existence of the Palestinian people and presented a map of the entity including Palestine and Jordan, the issue that was met by widespread Palestinian, Jordanian, Arab and international refusal.
Jordan’s parliament on Wednesday voted in favor of a proposal to expel Israel’s envoy, three days after a minister sparked an uproar for displaying a map depicting Israel as including all of Jordan and the Palestinian territories.
Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, who chaired the session, called for taking effective measures against the Israeli official’s act, Jordan News Agency (PETRA) reported.
The MPs reaffirmed their rejection of Smotrich’s move which implies “Israeli arrogance [and] disrespect for international treaties and charters.”
