Spanish Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena has confirmed in a new judicial order that charges of rebellion, misuse of public resources and civil disobedience against former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont and 24 members of his cabinet would be upheld.
However, there may not have been sufficient violence during the events leading up to the unauthorized Catalan independence referendum held on October 1, 2017.
If this proves to be the case, Llarena indicated that further charges of sedition and conspiracy to commit rebellion could be introduced against the former Catalan cabinet.
