Poland currently unable to accept refugees

Polish government spokesman Rafal Bochenek announced on Wednesday that the country is currently not able to accept any refugees, following the recent deadly terror attacks in Brussels.

During a press conference, Bochenek said that Tuesday's deadly attacks in Brussels demonstrated that EU security systems were not working efficiently, therefore "Poland was unable to receive immigrants at this point."

The spokesman added that people coming from the Middle East and Northern Africa should be verified and scrutinized, and the documents confirming their identity should be double checked, as they often turn out to be false.

Bochenek also underlined that until the security risk connected to the influx of migrants is eliminated, the security of Poles remains a crucial issue from the government's point of view.

The previous government of Poland agreed to resettle nearly 7,000 refugees. The first group was supposed to arrive in the country in 2016. In January 2016, the current government of Law and Justice Party announced it would meet this commitment.
