China is ready to develop strategic partnership with Belarus after Alexander Lukashenko won the presidential election there, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying said on Monday.
"We respect the choice of people and hope Belarus will keep the political stability and will continue the economic development," she said. "We are ready for further development of the overwhelming strategic partnership on the basis of mutual respect, equality and interest."
Alexander Lukashenko has reportedly won the presidential election with 83.49% of the vote.
